# Projects

#### **Projects are how BSL builds. Some are frameworks, some are tools, some are programs, some are shared infrastructure. All are working artifacts at specific maturity states, built in the open and shaped by the cooperative.**

Below you can explore the projects BSL is currently developing, along with what is on the roadmap. Each project shows what is being built and where it stands.

#### <mark style="color:$primary;">**What a project is**</mark>

A BSL project is a coordinated body of work building toward a specific framework, tool, program, or piece of shared infrastructure. Projects are working artifacts, not deliverables. They evolve as the work develops and are visible from their early stages.

#### <mark style="color:$primary;">**Project types**</mark>

BSL projects take several forms.

<table><thead><tr><th width="200">Type</th><th>What it means</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><mark style="color:$primary;"><strong>Framework</strong></mark></td><td>A theoretical or operational architecture</td></tr><tr><td><mark style="color:$primary;"><strong>Tool</strong></mark></td><td>A specific utility, toolkit, or instrument</td></tr><tr><td><mark style="color:$primary;"><strong>Program</strong></mark></td><td>An ongoing initiative, curriculum, or learning experience</td></tr><tr><td><mark style="color:$primary;"><strong>Platform</strong></mark></td><td>A digital product or service</td></tr><tr><td><mark style="color:$primary;"><strong>Infrastructure</strong></mark></td><td>A shared resource that supports other projects and the field</td></tr></tbody></table>

#### <mark style="color:$primary;">**Project stages**</mark>

Each project carries a stage that reflects where the work stands.

<table><thead><tr><th width="194">Stage</th><th>What it means</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><mark style="color:$primary;"><strong>Concept</strong></mark></td><td>The idea exists. Early shaping underway.</td></tr><tr><td><mark style="color:$primary;"><strong>Seed</strong></mark></td><td>Core architecture defined. Early prototypes emerging.</td></tr><tr><td><mark style="color:$primary;"><strong>Alpha</strong></mark></td><td>First working version. Active testing and iteration.</td></tr><tr><td><mark style="color:$primary;"><strong>Beta</strong></mark></td><td>Feature-complete. Refining based on feedback.</td></tr><tr><td><mark style="color:$primary;"><strong>Active</strong></mark></td><td>Publicly available and actively maintained.</td></tr><tr><td><mark style="color:$primary;"><strong>Scheduled</strong></mark></td><td>Release date set. In final preparation.</td></tr><tr><td><mark style="color:$primary;"><strong>Hibernation</strong></mark></td><td>Paused. Work exists but is not actively developed.</td></tr></tbody></table>

Stages are not strictly linear. A project may move from Alpha back to Seed if a fundamental rethink is needed.

#### <mark style="color:$primary;">**How to engage**</mark>

Each project page shows what is being built and where it stands. Members engage with active projects through Hub. Practitioners and partners interested in specific projects can reach out through the chat widget.

## <mark style="color:$primary;">**Active**</mark>

Projects currently in development. These are the working artifacts BSL is building now, visible from their early stages and shaped through ongoing cooperative work.

## <mark style="color:$primary;">**Emerging**</mark>

Projects on the roadmap. These are coordinated bodies of work BSL has shaped enough to commit to but has not yet begun developing. Each will move into Active development as capacity and context align.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter:

```
GET https://www.bioregionalsystemslab.org/dev/projects.md?ask=<question>
```

The question should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
