# About

*<mark style="color:$primary;">Building the coordination architecture for living bioregions.</mark>*

## **Bioregional Systems Lab is a research and development lab building integrative infrastructure for place-based coordination at bioregional scale.**

The lab develops the frameworks, tools, and practitioner capacity that enable bioregions to sense their environment, coordinate across stakeholders, and regenerate as living systems. Everything BSL builds is open, modular, and designed for adoption far beyond its own deployments.

## **Three Layers. One Living System.**

BioOS is organized in three layers connected by a continuous metabolic loop. The bioregion senses (C), orchestrates a response (B), acts through its capabilities (A), and the results update how the bioregion is perceived.

## **A lab built as a cooperative.**

BSL is built and governed by its members. Three circles of practitioners, each with a stake, a voice, and a role in shaping what gets built.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://www.bioregionalsystemslab.org/dev/explore/about.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
